Tamar Weinberg from Techipedia talks young bloggers!

It was great to answer a few questions for Tamar Weinberg of the well known blog Techipedia.  Young bloggers are not always taken seriously but we take our work seriously.  Having a web site and blogging is a lot of fun but as my mom puts it “It is a form of expression, a way to say what we are thinking”.

Right now I think that Tamar Weinberg is awesome for being willing to recognize young bloggers and to take us seriously!!  Thank you to Tamar for a great article!

On Memorial Day we send thanks to those who have served our country!

Our great grandfather’s both served in World War II. They are no longer with us but are very deserving of recognition on this day that we celebrate the memories of those we have lost who served our country.

The J4K family is sending out a huge thank you to all who have served our country and protected us from harm. Like a good friend of ours said on his post “We will not forget, We will always remember”!

If fans wanted to bring back Lost…

The final episode of the show Lost was interesting….it did not answer all of the questions that everyone so wanted to understand but it did provide a final ending to the show. My family talked about this and the “what if’s”. The what if Lost fans did like Jericho fans and tried to bring their show back, what would they do? What questions remain for both shows that still need to be answered? How would the two compare……so off in our day dreaming world it might look something like this…..

The Dog…Jericho and Lost both had a dog in them that seemed to disappear into nowhere land…..what happened to the dogs?? Fans need to know!!

Killing much loved characters….Jericho lost Johnston and Bonnie….Lost um “lost” so many important people it is too many to list….all my mom wants to know is “Why did Charlie have to die, why couldn’t he just swim out of the port hole and live”……And speaking of losing people….the bad guys usually don’t make it….Goetz did not make it (but we liked how good he played a bad person) but Ben lived….just sayin……

Jericho was people trying to survive in a town cut off from the world….Lost was about people trying to survive on an island cut off from the world….so which Jericho characters most resembled the Lost characters?? hmmmmm

Jack would be Jake….

Sawyer… my mom says Sawyer would be Stanley…

Kate would be Emily.

Ben would be Contantino

The Black Smoke guy would be Goetz

Juliet would be MiMi

Add your thoughts and character choices if you would like :-) :-) :-)

So…the real question is what advice would Jericho fans give to Lost fans that wanted to bring back their show…..

Let’s see…Lost ended with an eyeball…so fans could send fake eyeballs to the network demanding more than just an eyeball ending!! They could send dog biscuits as a symbol that we want to know what happened to the dog…..and now that I think of it we should have done that for the Jericho dog too!!

That is my view of Lost (with input from my family) and how it might be compared to Jericho…..

Now start sending in those fake eyeballs and dog biscuits because my mom wants to see more of Sawyer and I want to know where the dogs are :-)

Don’t forget to thank the troops!

Sending one letter to a soldier can put a smile on their face and let them know that someone cares!  That we are thankful for them and that protecting us is very honorable!

There are many places to send a letter, if you cannot find a way to do this, please check out my links page where you can write a postcard to a soldier for free and it will be sent for you!!

Operation Homefront is another great place to go if you want to send letters and even stuff like food, videos, comic books, regular books and cool stuff that will put a smile on a soldiers face!

Thank you to all of the soldiers for protecting our country!

If you have a Jericho fan in your life, be sure to give them the new Jericho comic books!!

JR4OT Press Release notes the huge success of the WHTJ Charity Event!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WELCOME HOME TO JERICHO CHARITY EVENT

BRINGS IN OVER $5K FOR MILITARY MEMBERS

AND THEIR FAMILIES

JR4OT cites unbelievable fan, cast, and crew participation for success of the L.A. ‘family-style’ reunion

(Jericho, NY)  Welcome Home to Jericho: A Charity Event, hosted at the Sportsmen Lodge in Studio City, CA April 24-26th, raised over $5,000 for military troops and their families — thanks to the big hearts and incredible participation of die-hard fans, as well as cast and crew members, of the twice-canceled-but-still-alive serial post-apocalyptic drama Jericho.

That’s according to Jericho Rangers for our Troops (JR4OT), acting as host on behalf of Operation Homefront’s Southern California Chapter, which focused its fundraising efforts on benefiting the families, more specifically, the children of deployed troops needing assistance with school supplies.

Designed to bring together fans and some of the show’s cast, writers, producers, and crew in a “family-style’ reunion, the Welcome Home to Jericho event raised a total of $5,378 to assist members of the military, whom have so clearly captured the hearts of Jericho fans worldwide.

Most of those funds were raised through an auction featuring memorabilia from the Jericho set, donated CDs and other signed paraphernalia from the musical group Five for Fighting (whose music graced Jericho episodes), autographs from professionals associated with the show, and various other items of interest.  Also, in an effort to complement the event’s fundraising goals, several fans created a best-of-Jericho cookbook, with sales proceeds also going to further support the efforts of Operation Homefront.

“It is a testament to Jericho and the incredible, tightly-bonded community it’s created that 23 cast and crew members chose to participate in this event and join us in recognizing the sacrifices made by our military members and their families,” said Stephanie Sokenis, President of JR4OT.  “We are grateful to these extraordinarily busy and successful professionals, headed by show ‘patriarch’ Gerald McRaney, for their interest and active participation.  It only reaffirms to fans that our love for the show and all the people associated with it is well-placed and very much merited.”

Also participating in the Welcome Home to Jericho event were the Color Guard and guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel Martin Spann, Operations Officer, from the 311th Expeditionary Support Command of the US Army Reserve.  Operation Homefront’s Southern California Chapter President Jae Marciano also attended and helped showcase images from the Homefront Project by artist Linnea Lenkus.

“Jericho Rangers for Our Troops is proud to be a part of a special TV community called Jericho, made up of never-say-die fans, caring professionals from the TV drama itself, and other military-supporting organizations, committed to a sustained showing of compassion and humanitarianism on behalf of troops,” said Steve Wood, Veteran and Vice President of JR4OT.  “This L.A. event was a humbling experience, and it demonstrated the same kind of values, such as friendship, teamwork, and love, that were so embraced and admired as part of this phenomenal TV show.”

Though canceled twice by CBS, Jericho is currently airing in reruns on Sunday nights on The CW Network and in various marathon formats on networks such as the Sci-Fi Channel.  Plans are already underway with Devils Due Publishing for Jericho’s story to continue in the form of a graphic novel, this in addition to a Jericho movie being in the talks.

With the conclusion of Welcome Home to Jericho: A Charity Event, the show’s fans have now donated over $40,000 in total to philanthropic endeavors in the past three years to benefit members of the military, food banks, and victims of disaster.  Those efforts include $8,400 raised over the past two Christmas seasons to ship 320 DVDs to troops overseas, the purchase of over 500 jars of peanut butter for the Kansas Food Bank, and approximately $20,667 donated to victims of devastating tornadoes in Greensburg, Kansas. In addition to worldwide fan participation in these efforts, children’s groups such as www.Jericho4Kids.com and a Boca Raton, Florida middle school class also joined in the efforts to raise funds for our military.

The Welcome Home to Jericho Charity Event

It’s been a long time since I have posted on the site.  First, I am sorry for that, we have to sooooo busy but there is good news!!

We had a great time at the WHTJ Charity event and the best part is that we raised over 5,000 dollars for Operation Homefront!! Jae, from the Southern California Operation Homefront was there and she was AWESOME!!

The first day that we got there we were busy getting things done for the event.  The next day my mom spent the whole day working on things and we helped as much as we could! :-)  We saw Steve, Stephanie, Lauri, Susie, Rammy, Chris, and a lot of other people!! :-)  Steve and Stephanie had all of the kcool stuff for the event and they were working hard to get it all together.  Cousin Bob and me put together the little baskets for the reception tables and filled them with candy.  Susie had a super kcool delivery of stuff from Loomer from the set and I got to help take pictures of it for the auction! We did get to swim in the heated pool which was kcool, and we met more people as they came in that day.

The second day, which was Saturday, my mom was still very busy getting ready for the event and we had the super AWESOME military presentation with the presentation of colors and the colonel talking to us.  Zac said the opening prayer and he did a super great job!!  Jae talked to us about Operation Homefront and Zac got a hat from Jae, and we, me and my mom too and steve and stephanie all got some kcool things from Jae. It was very very very nice of her.

Next was the writer’s panel.  The writers came, and they were really fun.  They talked about all of the things that have to be done to write and even the funny stuff, like when they have great ideas but they are way toooooo big so they have to make them a little smaller and they happen in the show :-)

Next Loomer came and he and Dr. Booty and Timothy Graham, it was really kcool to hear their stories and Zac and I got to ask questions too :-)

Then we had the reception, which was AWESOME!!  Zac got to show his Eagle project folder to Lennie James and I got to see all of my friends, it was great!! April Parker looked beautiful!! Candace Bailey had little puppies with her, that was kcool!  Everyone of the cast were great!!  Sterling was super nice too and his mom :-)  Oh and I forgot that Esai came up to us before the reception when he got to the hotel, and he was so happy to see us and we were glad to see him too!! He is super friendly and nice!! :-) Oh and I got a huge surprise becuase I did not know that my friend Bob Stephenson was going to be there and guess what?? He was there!! That was AWESOME! Jazz Raycole was there, very kcool, and Gerald MCRaney, Brad Beyer, Clare Carey, Loomer, Wendy, Dr. Booty, Stephen Schaia, Matt Federman, Chris Kramer is AWESOME! and Sterling Ardrey, Michael Gaston, DAvid Menier, Sprague Grayden, Kenneth Mitchell, Lennie James, and I think I forgot someone but it was great that they all came out to help us raise money for the troops!!

At the end of the night we presented a check to Jae from Operation Homefront for over 5,000 dollars!! That was great!!

That is all I can think of right now and I will write more again soon.

Thank you to EVERYONE who came and EVERYONE who was a guest, you are all AWESOME and GREAT!!

Peace out,

:-)

Shelby

Help save the tarsier monkey!

I am working on a report about the tarsier monkey.  This monkey, from the Philippines, is so itty bitty tiny that it could fit into my hand.  It is a cute, bug eating monkey that the scientists say could be the oldest mammal that lives on Earth right now!!  The tarsier are in danger of becoming extinct because the where they live is getting torn down and they have nowhere to go to be safe and to live.  I was sad to read that 1,000 species are becoming extinct each year!!  Please check out the web site and be kind to our environment and to our animals that live in it.

Childhood stories and favorite cousins……..

I have told many stories about my two cousins, whom I proudly deemed “My favorite cousins” from a very young age. They were there to cheer me on when I was a kid, always smiling and making me laugh.  They were older than me, and I looked up to them.  Zac and Shelby especially loved to hear the stories of them buying rocks from me at my “rock sale” and spending time with me, treating me like a person, not just a kid.  Once they met these two brothers, Zac and Shelby got what I was talking about, because they treated them the same way. They listened to them even though they are just kids and they joked and teased with them and had fun with them at the family reunions and the lake.  It was AWESOME and from there Zac and Shelby understood why I called them my favorite cousins and why I was so enthused when the opportunity came to see them.

They are brothers, living close to each other their whole lives, and yesterday we lost one of them.  Johnny was fun, he always smiled, and he loved us not matter what and we knew that.  He choked up when he talked about how my parents helped to raise them.  He loved seeing us and it showed every time we saw him.  We loved seeing him too because he gave us that feeling that we were very much loved.  God has an extra special angel now, one that will tell funny jokes, make you smile all day long, and buy rocks from you if it will make your day!

 He will be dearly missed.

We love you Johnny and know that you are a smiling over us right now, wanting us to just laugh and have fun!

A Jericho Comic Book!

The news is out! Jericho will be made into a comic book so that the story can continue! Graphic novel’s are awesome and a lot of people like to read them.  Shelby and I think this will bring new fans to Jericho and help to get a movie off the ground!  We cannot wait to see the comic book and will buy every issue! Let’s support our favorite television show by supporting this comic book that will show new people what Jericho is all about.  I look at it like this:

1. someone read’s the comic book

2. they get curious and want to see the actual tv show

3. they rent or buy the dvd

4. we have a new fan!
