WELCOME HOME TO JERICHO CHARITY EVENT
AND THEIR FAMILIES
JR4OT cites unbelievable fan, cast, and crew participation for success of the L.A. ‘family-style’ reunion
(Jericho, NY) Welcome Home to Jericho: A Charity Event, hosted at the Sportsmen Lodge in Studio City, CA April 24-26th, raised over $5,000 for military troops and their families — thanks to the big hearts and incredible participation of die-hard fans, as well as cast and crew members, of the twice-canceled-but-still-alive serial post-apocalyptic drama Jericho.
That’s according to Jericho Rangers for our Troops (JR4OT), acting as host on behalf of Operation Homefront’s Southern California Chapter, which focused its fundraising efforts on benefiting the families, more specifically, the children of deployed troops needing assistance with school supplies.
Designed to bring together fans and some of the show’s cast, writers, producers, and crew in a “family-style’ reunion, the Welcome Home to Jericho event raised a total of $5,378 to assist members of the military, whom have so clearly captured the hearts of Jericho fans worldwide.
Most of those funds were raised through an auction featuring memorabilia from the Jericho set, donated CDs and other signed paraphernalia from the musical group Five for Fighting (whose music graced Jericho episodes), autographs from professionals associated with the show, and various other items of interest. Also, in an effort to complement the event’s fundraising goals, several fans created a best-of-Jericho cookbook, with sales proceeds also going to further support the efforts of Operation Homefront.
“It is a testament to Jericho and the incredible, tightly-bonded community it’s created that 23 cast and crew members chose to participate in this event and join us in recognizing the sacrifices made by our military members and their families,” said Stephanie Sokenis, President of JR4OT. “We are grateful to these extraordinarily busy and successful professionals, headed by show ‘patriarch’ Gerald McRaney, for their interest and active participation. It only reaffirms to fans that our love for the show and all the people associated with it is well-placed and very much merited.”
Also participating in the Welcome Home to Jericho event were the Color Guard and guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel Martin Spann, Operations Officer, from the 311th Expeditionary Support Command of the US Army Reserve. Operation Homefront’s Southern California Chapter President Jae Marciano also attended and helped showcase images from the Homefront Project by artist Linnea Lenkus.
“Jericho Rangers for Our Troops is proud to be a part of a special TV community called Jericho, made up of never-say-die fans, caring professionals from the TV drama itself, and other military-supporting organizations, committed to a sustained showing of compassion and humanitarianism on behalf of troops,” said Steve Wood, Veteran and Vice President of JR4OT. “This L.A. event was a humbling experience, and it demonstrated the same kind of values, such as friendship, teamwork, and love, that were so embraced and admired as part of this phenomenal TV show.”
Though canceled twice by CBS, Jericho is currently airing in reruns on Sunday nights on The CW Network and in various marathon formats on networks such as the Sci-Fi Channel. Plans are already underway with Devils Due Publishing for Jericho’s story to continue in the form of a graphic novel, this in addition to a Jericho movie being in the talks.
With the conclusion of Welcome Home to Jericho: A Charity Event, the show’s fans have now donated over $40,000 in total to philanthropic endeavors in the past three years to benefit members of the military, food banks, and victims of disaster. Those efforts include $8,400 raised over the past two Christmas seasons to ship 320 DVDs to troops overseas, the purchase of over 500 jars of peanut butter for the Kansas Food Bank, and approximately $20,667 donated to victims of devastating tornadoes in Greensburg, Kansas. In addition to worldwide fan participation in these efforts, children’s groups such as www.Jericho4Kids.com and a Boca Raton, Florida middle school class also joined in the efforts to raise funds for our military.

Word is out about the charity event! We met our goal of helping the children of our troops. Great job getting the word out Susie :-)

It’s been a long time since I have posted on the site. First, I am sorry for that, we have to sooooo busy but there is good news!!
We had a great time at the WHTJ Charity event and the best part is that we raised over 5,000 dollars for Operation Homefront!! Jae, from the Southern California Operation Homefront was there and she was AWESOME!!
The first day that we got there we were busy getting things done for the event. The next day my mom spent the whole day working on things and we helped as much as we could! :-) We saw Steve, Stephanie, Lauri, Susie, Rammy, Chris, and a lot of other people!! :-) Steve and Stephanie had all of the kcool stuff for the event and they were working hard to get it all together. Cousin Bob and me put together the little baskets for the reception tables and filled them with candy. Susie had a super kcool delivery of stuff from Loomer from the set and I got to help take pictures of it for the auction! We did get to swim in the heated pool which was kcool, and we met more people as they came in that day.
The second day, which was Saturday, my mom was still very busy getting ready for the event and we had the super AWESOME military presentation with the presentation of colors and the colonel talking to us. Zac said the opening prayer and he did a super great job!! Jae talked to us about Operation Homefront and Zac got a hat from Jae, and we, me and my mom too and steve and stephanie all got some kcool things from Jae. It was very very very nice of her.
Next was the writer’s panel. The writers came, and they were really fun. They talked about all of the things that have to be done to write and even the funny stuff, like when they have great ideas but they are way toooooo big so they have to make them a little smaller and they happen in the show :-)
Next Loomer came and he and Dr. Booty and Timothy Graham, it was really kcool to hear their stories and Zac and I got to ask questions too
Then we had the reception, which was AWESOME!! Zac got to show his Eagle project folder to Lennie James and I got to see all of my friends, it was great!! April Parker looked beautiful!! Candace Bailey had little puppies with her, that was kcool! Everyone of the cast were great!! Sterling was super nice too and his mom :-) Oh and I forgot that Esai came up to us before the reception when he got to the hotel, and he was so happy to see us and we were glad to see him too!! He is super friendly and nice!!
Oh and I got a huge surprise becuase I did not know that my friend Bob Stephenson was going to be there and guess what?? He was there!! That was AWESOME! Jazz Raycole was there, very kcool, and Gerald MCRaney, Brad Beyer, Clare Carey, Loomer, Wendy, Dr. Booty, Stephen Schaia, Matt Federman, Chris Kramer is AWESOME! and Sterling Ardrey, Michael Gaston, DAvid Menier, Sprague Grayden, Kenneth Mitchell, Lennie James, and I think I forgot someone but it was great that they all came out to help us raise money for the troops!!
At the end of the night we presented a check to Jae from Operation Homefront for over 5,000 dollars!! That was great!!
That is all I can think of right now and I will write more again soon.
Thank you to EVERYONE who came and EVERYONE who was a guest, you are all AWESOME and GREAT!!
Peace out,
Shelby

This event will do great things for the children of our troops and that is AWESOME!!
Shelby
I am working on a report about the tarsier monkey. This monkey, from the Philippines, is so itty bitty tiny that it could fit into my hand. It is a cute, bug eating monkey that the scientists say could be the oldest mammal that lives on Earth right now!! The tarsier are in danger of becoming extinct because the where they live is getting torn down and they have nowhere to go to be safe and to live. I was sad to read that 1,000 species are becoming extinct each year!! Please check out the web site and be kind to our environment and to our animals that live in it.
Shelby
The WHTJ Charity event is growing! We have new guests confirming and new registrations coming in!!
One of the kcoolest parts is that Matthew Federman, Stephen Scaia, and Josh Schaer are doing a writer’s panel on Saturday.
Mike Loomer and Dr. Booty, along with the special effects teams are going to be talking to us in the afternoon.
And then………
We will have the cast Q & A Panel and reception line, which is going to be super awesome!!
The reception will be great fun and the auction will raise money to help the children of our troops!
Be sure to check it out live, you can watch the event live and also make auction bids from home!

We are counting down the days to the charity event. Don’t forget to register early to get the discounted price! Visit www.welcomehometoJericho.com for more information.
This is going to be a fun filled event, with the opportunity to meet each other as well as special Jericho guests. Esai Morales and April Parker-Jones have confirmed attendance and we have many more that are planning on attending. Mike Loomer will be there as well as Matt Federman, they are both AWESOME!
We visited LA nearly two years ago and there was so much to do. The beach and site seeing was great fun, and there were many inexpensive things to do. Getting the chance to meet the people who made Jericho is great, and the best part is that this event will help our military families and their children.
Won’t you join us?
I have told many stories about my two cousins, whom I proudly deemed “My favorite cousins” from a very young age. They were there to cheer me on when I was a kid, always smiling and making me laugh. They were older than me, and I looked up to them. Zac and Shelby especially loved to hear the stories of them buying rocks from me at my “rock sale” and spending time with me, treating me like a person, not just a kid. Once they met these two brothers, Zac and Shelby got what I was talking about, because they treated them the same way. They listened to them even though they are just kids and they joked and teased with them and had fun with them at the family reunions and the lake. It was AWESOME and from there Zac and Shelby understood why I called them my favorite cousins and why I was so enthused when the opportunity came to see them.
They are brothers, living close to each other their whole lives, and yesterday we lost one of them. Johnny was fun, he always smiled, and he loved us not matter what and we knew that. He choked up when he talked about how my parents helped to raise them. He loved seeing us and it showed every time we saw him. We loved seeing him too because he gave us that feeling that we were very much loved. God has an extra special angel now, one that will tell funny jokes, make you smile all day long, and buy rocks from you if it will make your day!
He will be dearly missed.
We love you Johnny and know that you are a smiling over us right now, wanting us to just laugh and have fun!
The news is out! Jericho will be made into a comic book so that the story can continue! Graphic novel’s are awesome and a lot of people like to read them. Shelby and I think this will bring new fans to Jericho and help to get a movie off the ground! We cannot wait to see the comic book and will buy every issue! Let’s support our favorite television show by supporting this comic book that will show new people what Jericho is all about. I look at it like this:
1. someone read’s the comic book
2. they get curious and want to see the actual tv show
3. they rent or buy the dvd
4. we have a new fan!
Zac
We heard some exciting news today and it can be found at this link
http://tv.ign.com/articles/958/958252p1.html
Jericho is in the works to become a movie, which would be super fantabulously awesome! And the news comes from one of Zac and my favorite friends, Dan Shotz! We met Dan on the set of Jericho and he is super kcool and fun to be around and he is a part of the huge team that made Jericho so great!!
Keep your fingers and your toes crossed and hopefully we will have a Jericho movie soon!!
Shelby
PS Don’t forget to check out Dan Shotz new show coming out soon called “Harper’s Island”. He says it’s a scary show, so be sure to ask your mom and dad if it is okay to watch it before you do. I LOVE scary movies so I hope I get to watch it!
Hope you have a super great day!!

Medical scrubs have also moved beyond the medical industry because of the sheer comfort of the apparel. This trend can be seen on a daily basis, as more and more individuals choose to wear scrubs while out running errands or as pajamas. The durability of the clothing as well as the comfort make for a great buy whether purchasing medical scrubs for personal or professional attire.
We know they are a necessary part of the medical industry, with scrubs being worn in almost all medical fields. The comfort and ease of medical scrubs as well as apparel make them the perfect fit for individuals working in the medical industry. Medical scrubs have evolved into stylish looks that provide the maximum comfort while working in the medical field. The medical field typically requires being on your feet for long periods of time, in which the medical scrubs and apparel industry offers nursing clog shoes. These shoes offer much needed comfort and durability for those long hours on your feet. When children visit a medical office, they are often uneasy and in need of reassurance. One way to help children feel at ease in a medical situation would be to wear animal print scrubs. These scrubs meet the purpose of comfort and also provide children with a sense of being in a kid friendly environment. A wide variety of medical scrubs and apparel can be found in this scrubs catalog. Today’s changing times have brought forth a new combination when it comes to medical scrubs, which combines comfort with fashion to create a professional work environment that assures the best quality in medical scrubs.
Check out the medical scrubs catalog for quality at an affordable price!
The guest list is growing as Esai Morales, April Parker-Jones, Matt Federman, Mike and Wendy Loomer as well as Dr. Booty have confirmed their attendance at the event.

Matt Federman worked as a writer and producer on Jericho. His talents have also been used on the show Judging Amy as well as the E-Ring and the West Wing. Matt attended last years Jerichon which helped raise funds to send DVDs to our troops! A great writer, with a huge heart, we are very excited that he is attending the Welcome Home to Jericho Charity Event.

Mike and Wendy Loomer are a J4K favorite, Mike worked as the On-Set Dresser on Jericho. He and his wife Wendy attended last years Jerichon and their huge hearts shined through as they mingled with the fans and helped to raise money for DVDs for the Troops.

There are people that come into our lives for a reason and my niece Betty is one of those people. She came into my life when I was still a little girl and has since seen me through many trials and tribulations. She was there for my mom (her grandma) and was one of the few people to spend quality time with her, even when she fell ill. She was there when I went on my first date with Tony, now my husband. She was in my wedding and I was in hers. Betty has listened to me when things were tough, even when I just needed to vent out my pain or tell her something great that happened. She stood by me when I lost my mom and checked in to make sure I was doing okay. She was often mistaken as my sister, and in my eyes she is my sister in every aspect. To be loved unconditionally is a rare thing, something to cherish and in my heart I know that Betty will be by my side no matter what, and that means the world to me.
Her energy for life and her huge heart inspire me always and I wanted to send her special birthday wishes and let her know that she is not just my niece, she is my best friend, my confidant and my rock.
We should all be so lucky to have someone like her in our lives.

We hope you have the best birthday ever! 14 rocks!!

For everyone that has been waiting for good Jericho news…….we just got GREAT Jericho news……..in an interview with Jon Turteltaub in iFMagazine he talked about Jericho and said “We’re developing a feature for JERICHO, “It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what’s going on beyond the town in Jericho.”
This is super fantabulous news and a little bird told Zac and Shelby that this news is right on……..and the development and continuation of Jericho is in the works!
Check out the article at http://www.ifmagazine.com/new.asp?article=7427.
Why we NEED to support our troops
By: Zac
Our troops need our support for the War on “Terrorism” because they wouldn’t feel like they had a reason to be in Iraq without it. They need things like duct tape, toiletries, and cds or movies to watch like Jericho. The soldiers need these because the army may not supply them. These items will also make them feel more at home. Writing letters to the soldiers telling them how good of a job they are doing will make them feel a million times better and give them a reason to wake up everyday they are in Iraq. The same thing happened in Jericho. Without the support of the citizens of Jericho, nothing would have changed and a civil war would not have started to reunite the whole country. And it only took one small town to make change. You can make change too. Send a letter to a soldier telling them how good of a job they are doing, send in some duck tape, or send them a Season 2 DVD set of Jericho to keep them occupied. You could also ask your local community if they could get a fundraiser together and send money to the troops. Now let me make one thing clear: THE TROOPS DID NOT HAVE ANY SAY IN WEITHER TO GO TO IRAQ OR NOT THAT WAS THE PRESIDENT’S CALL SO DO NOT HATE THE TROOPS FOR BEING IN IRAQ. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS ALWAYS SUPPORT THE TROOPS EVEN IF YOU DON’T AGREE WITH THE POLITICIANS. If you feel that way, then send a letter to your local congressmen or senator and ask them to support funding for the troops. I hope the War on Iraq will not last a long time and I hope the troops can get home as soon as possible. God bless the troops, and all the people who support the troops, AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The J4K family would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season! We would like to send a huge thank you to everyone who has helped with the www.Jericho4Kids.com web site and let them all know how blessed we are to have them in our lives!
A special message goes out to all of the soldiers that are working hard this holiday season to protect our country and better the lives of others. May your holidays be safe and full of blessing, because you are each truly a blessing to us!!
Neil Diamond said at his concert that he visited Houston and discovered families living in tents and in their cars because their homes were destroyed. This is a cause that J4K believes in and we hope that anyone attending of Mr. Diamond’s concerts will either purchase merchandise or donate to the fund to help the families at Oak Island. Imagine spending the holidays in a tent or even worse sleeping in you car with your entire family. It is not the way it should be and Mr. Diamond is working to make sure that these families have a place to call home!! All of the proceeds from the merchandise sold at his concerts will go to help the community of Oak Island in the Houston area build homes. To learn more check out these links http://www.neildiamond.com/pages/news/669 and http://www.neildiamond.com/pages/news/671 and consider helping the families of Oak Island. After all, we all need a place to call home!

The J4K family was fortunate to be able to take a vacation to a tropical paradise in 2003. It was an incredible experience, and what made it the best experience was the “all inclusive” resort where we lodged. To be so close to the beach and have the luxury of knowing that all of our meals, drinks and many of the water sports were all included with the resort. Our family would recommend an all inclusive vacation to anyone wanting to travel to their own tropical paradise! For your vacation need check out this jamaica all inclusive resort for great value and star treatment! There are vacations to suit all of your needs, including family settings and romantic vacations for two. A great way to celebrate the beginning of your life together is caribbean weddings. This provides a beautiful setting for the wedding as well as the opportunity for all of your friends and family to join you for a tropical experience they will never forget. Our tropical experience still stands as our favorite vacation. The relaxation of the beach, the lack of stress in knowing that we did not have to worry about our food and drinks as well as the multitude of activities available for all ages are what made this the perfect vacation. Next time you are planning a vacation consider an all inclusive experience!
This morning I had the pleasure of watching the fan made Jericho commercial on the UHD channel. Having a national commercial made by and funded by the fans is an incredible feat! I am bursting with pride for all of the folks that worked so hard to make this happen!
Congrats to Jason Moore “Rubberpoultry” for a job well done in making the commercial and a huge thank you to Brad Beyer for doing the voice over!! Julie H. ”Welcome2Cho” and Barney M. ”Redsox” also deserve a huge thank you for all of their work on the sidelines creating PR, covering all of the technicalities involved and getting the job done!!
And to the fans of Jericho who donated their money to fund this commercial, your generosity and dedication to this as well as charitable causes is simply amazing!

Birthdays are a special time to celebrate when we were born, but it also holds special meaning in many other ways too. Each year as I celebrate birthday’s of friends and family, memories bring to mind all of the times shared, the trials and tribulations we all go through as well as the laughter and joy of just plain living.
Yesterday was my brother’s birthday, my oldest brother, who holds a special place in my heart as the person who was there for me as a little girl, the one who bought me the plastic tomahawk that I so innocently utilized on many a knee :-) I want to wish him a happy birthday and let him know how proud I am to call him my big brother!
Today is my mom’s birthday. My mentor, my moral compass, my guide in all things life could bring me, and most of all my best friend. She passed away 11 years ago, after a hard fought fight with illness, in our home, in her sleep, peacefully. I think of her when things get tough, because she was able to endure the toughest of times and do it with the most positive attitude! My mom was the “neighborhood mom”, I grew up watching her feed and cloth children who would not otherwise have received such care. I watched her survive cancer 24 years beyond her grim “4 months to live” diagnosis, and I saw the person that I most wanted to be in her. Shelby did not get to meet her grandmother, as I was 8 months pregnant when my mom passed away, but I see so much of my mom in both of my children. I see their love of life and the way that they can make a positive out of a negative. Most of all I see their drive to do good things, to be there for those who need help and to stand up for what they believe in. My mom lives on, her spirit is with us, and with my children, and for that I am grateful. As I type on this web site that two years ago would have seemed a mere pipe dream, I think of how her influence led to this point in my life and the life of my family.
Thanks mom for inspiring me to be a better person and for always reminding me that nothing is impossible.
Happy Birthday!
Check out this web site where you can send letters saying “Thank You” to our soldiers that work so hard to keep us safe here at home! The J4K family would like to send a huge HAPPY HOLIDAYS and THANK YOU to all military personnel and their families for all that they give up for us!! Thank you a million times!!
Sincerely, The J4K family

When our 50 inch television finally went out of commission, our search for a new home entertainment system began. Having owned our television for 12 years it was quickly brought to our attention just how much technology had changed. We compared rear projection with LCD and also considered the fact that HD was slowly becoming the norm and would eventually be necessary in order to watch television. It turned out that choosing the right television was the easy part because setting it up to work with HD and surround sound was quite a task. We needed specific cables and connections which took several trips back to the retailer and hours of testing and retesting to assure that the connections were right. This was just the television as we also worked to determine the appropriate way to connect the DVR and DVD Player.
The process of setting up our home entertainment system would have been much easier had we known about a service offered by South West Audio Visual (SWAV). SWAV offers the highest quality set up that will bring out all of the enhancements offered by an entertainment system. For example, we did not connect our speakers appropriately, leaving us with poor sound quality. SWAV would have done this for us had we known about their service. The new technology in home entertainment systems requires a great deal of technical knowledge. Without this knowledge, items such as blu-ray and HD can be set up improperly, resulting in poor quality from a high quality product. South West Audio Visual offers a reliable, high quality service that can set up basic home entertainment systems as well as high tech home theaters. As you move into the new world of high tech home entertainment systems, turn to Home Theater San Diego for a reliable, high quality set up that will be tailored to fit your needs. Home Theater San Diego is where you can find South West Audio Visual in order to make setting up your entertainment system an expedient process with optimal results!
